The heroine of the novel before us is not a historical woman, nor even a normative fictional character. She is an unknown, demented woman, who "clings" to her author as a "normative mirror" and tries to use her to navigate a life she no longer understands. However, it slowly becomes clear to us that the "normative mirror" is no longer capable of properly reflecting the reality of our lives, which is properly reflected, tragically, in the "demented mirror."
